Our 50 gram, 100% hemp yarns are sourced from cottage farmers in the remote villages of Bajura, Nepal. We receive their hand-spun threads, dye them with plants, and then hand-spin two threads together making a thick and durable yarn perfect to craft with. The colors produced from our local plants are vibrant and long lasting. Each yarn cake is 50 grams of weight and approximately 45 yards on average. The thickness is 5 yarn bulky.
Note that since this is a natural and hand spun item there is some variability in thread thickness. We think this is perfect for crochet, knitting, and macrame projects. Happy Crafting from Nepal!

Hemp is found in abundance in Nepal and is one of the most sustainable materials in the world. It can be harvested 3 times a year, requires little water, and sequesters nutrients in the soil instead of depleting it. The farmers that we purchase our hemp from are small cottage businesses just like ours! So supporting us is also supporting them. Other benefits of hemp include: anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, completely biodegradable, tough and therefore long-lasting.

I was really happy when I found this natural dyed 100% hemp yarn, as it has been difficult to find. I make hemp body and dish scrubs and just love all the color options provided-- they rough spun which provides the perfect amount of 'grit' for scrubbing. The package was very late on arriving, likely because of high volume shopping around the holidays. The seller was really great in helping me track the package and rectify the situation. Would recommend!
