I’ve had so many inquiries about how my “Double Chocolate Rail Fence” quilt was made, that I decided to create a pattern for it. I’ve included step-by-step instructions, with photos and illustrations, so even the beginner can have success. The rail fence is one of the easiest and versatile patterns—perfect for the beginner. This lap quilt (which could also be made as a baby quilt) is 38” x 50”. I used part of a jelly roll with additional yardage from Moda’s “Double Chocolate” designer line (see photo). But you can make this lovely quilt out of any fabrics—even those cut from your stash. I’ve included several illustrations of variations of the design, and information to help you figure yardage to create any size quilt top. I hope you won’t stop at making just one!
