I almost sent this set back. I was trying set up a position on the board sitting on a table before putting it on the fridge door. Some of the pieces wouldn’t remain positioned correctly, either spinning upside down or repelling pieces on adjacent squares. Pieces fell off the board when I tried to transfer it to the fridge. Finally, I put the empty board on the door, and added pieces. Surprise - it works perfectly! I subtracted a star because you can’t set it up on the table, but as long as you know that, it works fine.

We’re sorry for the confusion you experienced at first, but we’d like to clarify one important point. Our product is a magnetic chess set designed specifically to attach to a metal refrigerator surface. Because of this, it is not intended to be set up or carried on a table before mounting. The correct usage is exactly as you discovered: first place the board on the refrigerator, then position the pieces directly on it. Once used this way, the set functions properly. We still appreciate your feedback and are glad to hear that the set worked perfectly once installed correctly.
I would suggest this as a gift for anyone who loves chess.
