Olive Wood is arguably the most stunning looking wood on the planet. We have made over 3000 chopping boards and we have finally comitted to making these incredible boards.
olive wood chopping boards are commonly made from thin 1-2cm stock and normally sold as serving boards in small sizes. We have gone the extra mile and sourced 5cm THICK! olive slabs to make the signature James Martin style chopping boards. These boards are much larger!
Because of this, these slabs are hard to source, really expensive! And very limited. Olive wood is 4 x more expensive than Oak and double the price of Walnut.
MAKING PROCESS :
We spend half a day at the Mill with an expert handselting large Olive wood slabs. We then spend another half a day roughly cutting the olive to get the selected sizes. Each board is then hand made and sanded to 220g.
Olive wood has extreme character, therefore there can be some good cracks! All cracks are filled with Black Epoxy. We feel the black Epoxy really compliments the colour. All boards are fitted with 4 black rubber feet.
All boards are oiled and waxed with natural Bees wax.
Like I said, these boards are one off a kind! We have very LIMITED stock, we will of course try and source more Olive. But this isn’t as accessible as Oak and other woods. And the cost limits our spending.
