The pregnancy bola, also called Bolan Bola, originates from Indonesia, although it is sometimes mentioned in countries such as Mexico, India, and Thailand. It is a piece of jewelry worn as a long necklace on the pregnant woman's belly. The unique feature of the pregnancy bola? A melodious chime thanks to small beads enclosed within an inner ball.
The pregnancy bola serves a purpose for both the baby and the expectant mother: its gentle chime will soothe the baby from the third month of pregnancy onwards, a soft sound to which they will become accustomed in utero and which they will recognize after birth (the bola can then be hung above the crib or sewn inside the baby's cuddly toy; they will then be reassured by this familiar, gentle chime). For the pregnant woman, the pregnancy bola is a lovely accessory to accentuate both her growing belly and her maternity outfits.
Of course, you don't need to be pregnant to succumb to the charm of this jewel with its soothing properties!
For this micro collection of pregnancy bolas, I chose to combine the benefits of stones with the soothing virtues of the gentle melody produced by the bola's xylophone.
A 25mm diameter gold bell ball adorned with a mother-of-pearl flower, all mounted on a 105cm gold stainless steel chain, equipped with a 5cm extension chain.
