Why is shipping so expensive on multiple items purchased?

I do not set the shipping charges, Etsy does, and their shipping calculator wasn't made for listings with multiple weights; so it always takes the maximum weight for that particular listing resulting in $20+ shipping charges. In almost all cases I can ship it for a lot less than Etsy's calculation and I will always refund shipping overages when that happens. After I receive your order, I am able to see different options for shipping and I'll always use the cheapest option that gets your package to you on time. Multiple yards of fabric should never be more than $15 (usually $10 or less), multiple fat quarters should ship for $7.5 or less. Of course all this depends on where in the country you are located, class of service, and final weight.
