Can I request a custom map or a different size?

Yes. Custom maps of any region, other sizes and alternative colourways are available. Message me here on Etsy with what you have in mind.

What if my order arrives damaged or is returned to sender?

Damaged: message me on Etsy with a photo and I will make it right: a replacement at no cost to you, print or frame. Please report it within 30 days of delivery. Returned to sender: check the address you entered at checkout and message me. If it was wrong, I can quote you for reshipping. If it was correct and delivery still failed, tell me and I will sort it out.

How long does shipping take, and will I pay customs?

Every map is made to order. Print Only orders are dispatched in 3 to 5 business days, framed orders take a few days longer. The estimated arrival window for your address is shown on the listing before you buy, and tracking is sent when it ships. Print Only ships rolled in a rigid protective tube. US and EU orders, print or framed, are printed and shipped inside your own region, so there is nothing to pay at the door. Orders outside the US and EU may be subject to local import fees.

What paper and ink do you use?

Museum grade giclee print on premium matte paper with pigment ink. Colours sit rich, deep and glare free. A small number of listings also offer a choice between Matte Poster Paper (192 gsm) and Fine Art Matte Paper (300 gsm, slightly textured).

What are the frame options?

Most maps come as Print Only or framed in Black, White, Light Wood, Vintage Bronze or Retro Gold. A framed map has the same museum grade print inside, a plexiglass front, a backing board and hanging hardware, and arrives fully assembled, ready to hang. The largest sizes ship as Print Only. Room and frame photos are digital mockups made to show scale and colour. The frame you receive is a real moulding in the colour you choose, and wood grain and tone vary a little from piece to piece.

Berghaus drew this world map in 1897. We restored the sheet, then rebuilt the terrain underneath it from modern elevation data, so the shading follows real mountains instead of the engraving convention of the day. The character is 1897. The relief is measured.

My background is a PhD in earth science and years of geomorphological mapping, which is exactly what a restoration like this needs: enough cartographic training to leave the original alone, and enough terrain modelling to rebuild what sits beneath it.
