Here is a beautiful and fascinating example of Essays Second Series by Ralph Waldo Emerson, published by James B Lyon. From my research I believe this copy to be from 1889, but haven’t found many examples of this edition.
Essays Second Series has several famous works by Ralph Waldo Emerson, including “The Poet”, “Experience”, and “Politics”. This particular book sports beautiful Turkish marbling on the front and back cover, as well as front and back inside pages. The book is in decent shape. There is some mild wear on the outside with some fraying and general wear to the leather. The inside pages are in good shape as well, the only notable blemishes being a small hole on the title page, and a small crack on the inside cover.
