A Murder in the Coven: A Murder Mystery Dinner Party (8-12 Players, Medium Difficulty)

🌛 It’s 1995 and the River Coven of New Orleans is in crisis. The Supreme, Elder Esmeray, has been murdered. Recently, Elder Esmeray has been in decline, her powers have been waning, which means a new Supreme would need to be tested and elected. Elder Esmeray summoned witches and warlocks of the coven from all over the world and on Halloween night they were to be tested and a new Supreme would be chosen. However, Elder Esmeray was found murdered on October 30th and a killer is on the loose. 🌚

“A Murder in the Coven” is a murder mystery dinner party that can be adapted for 8-12 players. Think murder mystery meets “The Traitors.” You can add or drop characters, or insert your own party’s photos into the game to make it more personal. We recommend 12 players for the full experience, but you can go as few as 8 if need be. You will receive three files (one zip file) upon completion of purchase. This version is labeled "medium" difficulty and recommended for ages 16+. There is a hard-level difficulty version as well. The main difference between this version and that version is that this one does not have the "escape room-like" clues to solve. Please see my Etsy store for more information. Character Preview:

Goody Story (The Game Master): Goody Story is a mortal the River Coven took in because of her ability to identify witches and warlocks. Rather than kill her, like they might any other mortal, they decided to adopt her because of her ability to craft a good story. Goody Story became close to the late Supreme, often assisting her with daily tasks. It was Goody Story who discovered the late Supreme murdered. Now, on Halloween night, Goody Story has gathered all the witches and warlocks of River Coven to solve the murder of the late Supreme.

Esmeray Eldritch: The granddaughter of the late Supreme, Elder Esmeray. She comes from a very long line of Supremes. Her magic strength is in potions.

Henrietta “Hetty” Hex: A talented witch who has become a master of spells throughout her career. Many in the coven have been betting she’ll be the next Supreme. She is particularly adept at magic rituals.

Luna Loveless: Luna is a bit of a ditsy witch but with great power all the same. She often starts rumors and says outlandish things that make the rest of the coven roll their eyes. Her magic strength comes from harnessing crystals.

Maxwell Miser: Maxwell is an eccentric warlock who is quite attuned to nature and can often commune with animals, particularly raccoons. He keeps to himself in a cottage in the forest.

Narcissa Night: Narcissa is a powerful necromancer and walks the thin veil between life and death. She has a strong fixation on death and is the only one who can communicate with ghosts. This may or may not prove valuable in a murder mystery!

Nigel Nox: Nigel is a wealthy warlock in the witch community, who is also a bit of a playboy. His magic strength is apparition—the art of appearing, or disappearing… He often disappears from the coven on overseas adventures, but each time returns with a different witch on his arm. He is currently rumored to be involved with Veruca Vane.

Ophelia Onyx: Ophelia is a reckless and wanton young witch who is quite a bit unhinged. She is often talking to herself and writing in her diary. But her powers are significant, especially her ability to conjure fire. She is rumored to have made a pact with a demon.

Raven Rogue: An incredibly eccentric and flamboyant warlock whose outward appearance is as big as his personality. Raven is quite wealthy and has a vast collection of occult artifacts. He is the most knowledgeable about enchanted objects.

Sawyer Spellman: Sawyer is a quiet warlock whose strength is seeing flashes of the future in the tarot cards he lays out. He carries with him multiple different decks of cards.

Sylvester “Slay” Salt: A highly judgmental young warlock who is quite adept at shapeshifting. He is one of the brightest warlocks in the coven and his magic is as powerful as the top witches.

Veruca Vane: Veruca is a naive young witch who is overconfident in her powers and whose ego is larger than the coven itself. She often commands everyone’s attention and is a gifted enchantress. She is currently rumored to be romantically involved with Nigel Nox.

Zara Zap: Zara is a quiet, bookish young witch who can often be found with her head in a spell book. She is particularly good at incantations and has created many of her own.
