This is a print of my original poppy herbarium specimen (pressed botanical) artwork. It was made from a high-resolution scan of the original. It is available with a light or dark background.

The plant is California poppy (Eschscholzia californica) and features its beautiful bright orange flowers, seed-containing capsules, deeply dissected leaves, and a longitudinal root section. It was found in its natural habitat in Oregon and was collected by a trained, degreed professional (see my personal profile). An optional, complete collection label is included in the standard location at the bottom right corner of the front of the specimen adding to its scientific appeal.

SIZING - The original herbarium specimen was 11x14”. However, prints are available in 5x7”, 8x10”, 11x14” and 16x20”! Smaller sizes are printed on a natural-colored, archival-quality, heavy-weight cardstock, and 16x20” are printed on a heavy, white, poster paper.

BACKGROUND COLOR - All sizes are also available with a "Dark Background." In order to preserve the original colors of the plant, the dark background is digitally added to the artwork file prior to printing (on light-colored paper), resulting in a stunning contrast between the vibrant plant and the black background.

SCIENTIFIC COLLECTION LABEL – All sizes and background colors are also available with just the scientific name of the plant and printed artist signature in place of the collection label.

Incredible, the photo is so sharp it looks like a pressed flower is in there. Great quality paper and it came wrapped well to prevent any creases.

Absolutely gorgeous! These are printed on a nice, heavy card stock and look like actual pressed flowers even though it’s a print. I ordered four for my daughters nursery, but I’ll probably be ordering more for other areas in my house, I love them so much!
