Retractable cord measures 34"
The reason this badge backing style is called alligator is because it opens and closes like an alligator's mouth. To secure this badge you pinch to open the metal clip on the back and then position over the material you are securing it too, release to close and the badge clasps to the material.

This style clip is called a belt clip because it has one metal piece on the back that slides onto the material.
