Great old canvas for old-fashioned rug hooking!

Welcome to DodOddity! Everything is my shop is a FIND, often an estate find, once in a while a thrift store find or remote surplus store in Maine find... Usually, a ONE OF A KIND find, one that is gone once it sells unless it is a vintage fabric that magically pops up again in another estate sale. I also sell estate pieces and parts for crafting, like lace and trims and felted wool and cutter quilt pieces and quilt blocks.

I also like to ramble on about the stories behind these estates so if you like to know such things, you are not alone. Over the years, enough customers urged me to write a book that I finally did. Fabric Wars can be found in my Etsy shop and everywhere else, too! This book not only landed me on The Straight Stitch podcast but also led me to TV producer Yvonne Bernard who thinks my crazy life would make for great reality TV! Who knows???

This canvas is part of a collection of star blocks and assorted other old blocks and lace trims and collars that were found in an old trunk at an estate sale. The owner of the estate told me that the collection belonged to and was made by his mother. In a different unrelated conversation, he mentioned that his father was born in 1917. The oldest piece that I have dates around the 1920's so realistically, she could have started sewing young and even into the 1930's, as a potential teen or twenty-year-old, she could have been working with fabric that was HER mother's. We all have fabric stashes and collecting fabric ten+ years old feels like we just bought it yesterday!

As for "Right Hook?" the mystery name of this collection? Better pick up Fabric Wars 2, due out the end of the year!
