Gallery-wrapped 1.25-inch canvas featuring a face at rest on a near-black ground, with gold tracing the brows, eyelids, lips and the cracks between them. Printed and stretched to order, mounting hardware included, with free U.S. shipping. No decorative outer frame is included.

Almost all of this canvas is black. You have to look for a moment before the face arrives.
Then the gold does its work along the brows, across the closed eyelids, over the mouth, and down one long crack that runs off the edge of the jaw. Nothing else is lit. Only the places that broke. Because healing is the most beautiful part.

Her eyes are shut. She is not braced for anything. Whatever happened here happened a while ago, and the gold has had time to set.
