A lovely Mangalagiri silk saree in red and green combination! This is a handmade Pen Kalamkari sari from Kalahasthi in Andhra Pradesh. Sari has allover design in body.
Pen Kalamkari sarees are skilfully hand painted by artisans of Srikalahasti and Masulipatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Beautiful imagery and sketches of tree of life, flowers, faces, gods, goddesses from ancient Indian mythology, dancing damsels, peacocks, flora, fauna can be seen.
As painting is involved there will be spills or spread of colors into the neighboring parts of the design. This is not considered as a defect.
Fall and edging done. Comes with unstitched blouse.

As this is a handloom saree, there could be cross weaving between the body and the pallu, which is quite natural and is a sign of pure handloom sarees.
Zari folds, tiny knots, thread pulls, gaps in weaving, small holes on the edges of sarees, dye stains on the saree border or pallu area are not considered as damage or defects.
