A Spinel gemstone from Sri Lanka displaying two distinct colours.
The gem appears a uniform blue colour when viewed face-on through the table facet, but from other angles a secondary purple shde can be seen.
This is due to a feature not often encountered in Spinel, colour zones which were present in the crystal from which this gem was fashioned.
