I first put it on the part that holds my books but it was too thin for the clip so i raised my stand shelf and clipped it to that. It works good there.

I'm so glad you made it work for you! If you ever need it on the actual stand, you can use a hair dryer to soften the plastic and push the clip closer together so it holds a bit better. Sometimes the clip stretches out a bit, and that puts it back in place.
