No toilette is complete without sponges for both males and females. They were used for all sorts of things, including washing and makeup application and keeping the beard and teeth clean. Sponges from the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea have been used for centuries. They were the specific sponges that were highly sought after.

These large sponges would be great for bathing the feet or body. Most bathing wasn't done "soaking in a tub" but rather sponging off. You could also cut them up and use them for cosmetics. We do have smaller sponges as well. Sea Sponges are 100% natural & biodegradable, are environmentally safe, & naturally inhibit bacterial growth. Sea sponges are a lot more durable than synthetic sponges. They are more resistant to abrasion, which is better for bathing and cleaning. They also hold more water than synthetic ones do, and we had to remove some fantastic information about how healthy and cool sponges are- if you want to know, send us an email! Historical sponge collecting was a dangerous job- But they were in high demand. Many Greek islanders would travel from their homes to gather sponges like this from the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea.
