Rare EXTREMELY Timeworn Salvaged Collectable 19thC Antique French Handpainted Advertising Publicity Plate-''Maison de 100,000 Chemises-(Paris)''-making a Great find for any Collector of Memorabilia,or perfect to restore perhaps from this famous Parisian Entrepeneur........Scarce Piece indeed dated 1895 (Etrennes) which holds Charm and Character-even in this condition

Measuring 11.25 inches diameter dimension and weighing 0.800Kgs unpacked -This is a truly Fabulous item dating circa.1800's and is in somewhat Expected but very Distressed Vintage condition,there is age-staining and Crazing (which some customers eagerly search for!) however there is a Large Crack (pictured) and Chips to the Underside central base rim which have become discoloured over time. Multiple photos display its' Timeworn condition and which form part of the Description-could be restored if so wished but I think its utterly Charming as is.......The Image displays feeding time for the Hens against a Rural Landscape-Company History below....this is,despite its condition-a Collectable Rare Piece.......

*Born in 1838 in Alsace, Moïse Schwob, from a modest background, left his native region and moved to Paris in 1869, meeting some of his brothers there. During the war of 1870, Moïse Schwob opted for French nationality like, moreover, a large part of his family. He first launched into the banner trade with his brother, then joined forces with César Bloch, creating “Schwob et Cie” whose corporate purpose was limited to “the operation of the wholesale shirt trade”. In 1873, he filed a patent for an indicator board to take the measurements of shirts, underpants, etc. under the sign "Maison du Progrès", located at 69 rue Lafayette. This patent marked the beginning of his professional success. In 1880, Moïse Schwob, who separated from his partner, created the "Maison des 100,000 Chemises", whose headquarters are still located at Rue Lafayette. Faced with success, Moïse, who then took the first name of Maurice in 1883, opened many branches on the Parisian shopping streets. His workshops becoming too small, he opened a vast workshop in rue Louis Blanc in Paris in 1890, then the following year, a large factory in Châteauroux. In 1906, he built a large laundry in Creil in the Oise.

The commercial innovation of Maurice Schwob, he created modern ready-to-wear, the "reimbursed or satisfied"..., the strategic choice of his branches, his social action towards his workers - he set up in the year 1895 , a Mutual Aid Society thus allowing all of its workers access to care - which earned him several awards including a medal at the Universal Exhibition of 1900, a Gold Medal at that of Saint-Louis in 1904, a title out of competition in Milan in 1906. In 1908, he was promoted to the rank of Knight of the Legion of Honor.

In 1910, he transformed the 100,000 Shirts into a Public Limited Company. His three sons-in-law who were already working alongside him continued his work after his death in 1914.

An Historical Exhibition retraced, through archival documents, photographs, clothing and advertising items, the birth and development of a company that had left its mark on the Paris department. Maurice Schwob, by setting up his factory on rue des Fonds in Châteauroux, became one of the most important shirt manufacturers in Indre in the 19th century. He also left his mark on an entire district, that of Saint-Denis, building around his factory, shops, workers' houses still visible today.......
