We offer the Komboskini in either a bracelet (roughly 55 knots, meant to be worn) or a 100 knot prayer rope (not to be worn, but to be carried- check out our icon pouches for storage of your Komboskini:

The bracelets are waxed cotton cord. The 100 knot rope is satin cord. It will fit kids as young as 4/5 years old and it will fit a man adult’s wrist, too, as it stretches. Do not overstretch or it will not fit properly. Please see the listing video for instructions on how to put it on.
HISTORY:
The Komboskini is used by Orthodox Christians worldwide to keep track of the Jesus Prayer, “Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me, a sinner.” It has been said if everyone said this quick prayer just 100 times a day, there would be no war in the world. A very powerful statement about a very powerful and simple prayer!
The origins of the prayer rope, called in Greek Komboskini κομποσκοίνι or in Russian Chotki or in Serbian Brojanica…
The origins of this type of prayer rope are attributed to Orthodox Christian monks, who would count stones to keep track of the 150 Psalms, which they tried to rehearse daily, until something more mobile was necessary to carry around while they did their work, farming and tending to the animals. There is a story passed down that a saint, possibly Saint Anthony the Great, was making a prayer rope to keep track of prayers, and the devil would come and untie the knots, making it impossible to keep track. According to the story, an angel was sent by God to teach him how to tie a very difficult knot, made up of seven crosses, which the devil was unable to untie because he is vanquished by the power of the Holy Cross.
The color is typically black, to represent repentance, or red to represent the Blood of Christ, but is offered in modern times in many colors. These are typically sold in monasteries and made while praying to God. Sometimes the prayer is “please, please let me get this knot right!” as it is a very difficult knot to tie!
