Highlights
Tool dimensions : 11" x 2.5".
The tool has been stained in Walnut and coated with teak oil. (The color of the gourd awl may vary from light wood to dark wood).
Comes with wooden awl + curved needle + straight needle + waxed thread. This tool helps with aligning the holes flawlessly. The paper is placed under the see-through guide then clamped on the tool with the white screws at the top and bottom. I also mark the holes I will use with a Sharpie (once you are done with the project, you can remove your Sharpie marks with a Q tip + rubbing alcohol).
All the page holes are centered and the sewing is a breeze. If needed, you can make the holes bigger with a Japanese screw punch. (You will find one in my shop)
Japanese stab binding is a great introduction to book binding. You will learn how to make the covers, hinge+ spacing and sew. They make a great handmade gift. I offered a few as a Wedding guest books and diaries.
