I'll use this as a base for another model, but I made this one to check the pattern. I didn't quite understand the instructions since they're very general. When I finished, the lining was smaller than the main piece, so I cut it again, this time using the same pattern as the base, and it turned out fine. The collar is smaller on one side, so it looks a bit disproportionate; I just need to adjust those details. I don't recommend it for beginners.

This pattern is drafted as a base / foundation pattern, intended for makers who like to adapt and modify designs, which is why the instructions are kept more general rather than step-by-step beginner level. Your observation is absolutely valid, and I agree that it may not be the best choice for complete beginners. A collar imbalance can happen if one side is rotated or slightly stretched during cutting or sewing; I’m glad to hear you were able to correct it by re-cutting. Your final result looks lovely, and your approach of using the pattern as a base is exactly how it was designed to be used.
