This is a gilt metal case which would have been hung from a chatelaine circa 1770 – 1790

The case would have held a bobbin or maybe even a tape measure.

The case has a hinged lid. It opens and closes well

The case is decorated with raised scroll work.

It has a suspension loop on the lid

The case measures 30mm x 20mm x 15mm and is in 85% mint condition – the gilding has worn away and the colour is now a duller brassy colour. Still perfectly useable however and reflected in the price.
