ABOUT THE FILM: The original Polaroid company stopped producing new film in 2008. A group of investors and former Polaroid employees quickly organized as The Impossible Project (TIP) shortly thereafter to purchase Polaroid’s last factory and production equipment in Enschede, The Netherlands, and began producing new instant film in 2010. In mid 2017, they obtained the rights to begin using the Polaroid name and have fully rebranded as Polaroid. Polaroid is back!

This film is produced on Polaroid's original equipment, and carries the legendary Polaroid name, but due to many factors, it has been completely re-engineered. The film uses a new chemical process that behaves a little differently compared to old school Polaroid film. The primary difference is a longer development time. Polaroid is constantly refining their formula and improving their film products. The film included here is the latest and greatest film the team at Polaroid has produced.

Polaroid stamps every film pack with a date of production and recommends using all film within one year of production for optimal results. Well-stored film can continue to be usable for many years past the date of production.

FOR BEST RESULTS:

Please follow all guidelines provided by Polaroid both on their website and included with each pack of film.

Based on my own personal experience, the following tips are key:

1. Keep film refrigerated if it will not be used within the coming weeks. Allow the film to come to room temperature for one hour prior to use.

2. Ensure that the camera's exposure dial is set at the midpoint.

3. Keep the film warm during shooting and developing. Cool environments will inhibit proper development.

4. Shoot the film in plenty of light. Either shoot photos outdoors in sunlight or indoors with the flash turned on.

5. Keep your photo shielded from light during the first few minutes of development. Your photo should fully develop within 10-15 minutes.

There is a learning curve associated with Polaroid instant film photography. Unlike the consistency provided by digital photography, results will vary. Shooting conditions, camera settings, and photographer skill all play a role. Please adjust expectations accordingly.

Digital photography will always produce clearer, more predictable results, but it's nowhere near as fun. Every Polaroid picture you take will be a true one of a kind!
