Charoite Tumble from Russia

Charoite is a rare mineral that is found only in one location in the world, along the Chara River in Russia's Sakha Republic. It was first discovered in the 1940s, but it was not until the 1970s that it began to be used as a gemstone.

Charoite is typically a lavender to purple color, and it has a swirling, fibrous appearance that is often described as having a "silk-like" texture. The purple color is due to the presence of manganese, and the swirling pattern is caused by the mineral's unique crystal structure.

Charoite is considered a relatively soft gemstone, with a Mohs hardness of 5 to 6. It is usually cut into cabochons, beads, or other decorative shapes, and it is often used in jewelry. It is also used in decorative objects and carvings. It is a silicate mineral that is composed primarily of potassium, sodium, calcium, barium, strontium, oxygen, silicon, and hydrogen. The mineral has a distinctive purple color, which can range from pale lavender to deep violet, and is often streaked with white, black, or other shades of purple.
