What could be more special as a gift for a friend or loved one than an original bespoke pet portrait painting. Below are details on how to go about commissioning a painting of a beloved cat. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have, before committing. I work in acrylic pigments.
Sizes available are: 6"x8" or 8"x10" or 11"x14". The medium choices are: wrapped canvas or hardboard. Your painting on hardboard will come with a single white mat but you will need to frame it behind glass. Wrapped canvas will come with ready to hang hardware.
The portrait of your pet will be painted working from your provided reference photo or photos. Clear reference material is best for a successful likeness in a portrait. Your portrait will be done on primed artist quality stretched canvas or hard board, 6"x8" to 11"x14" maximum. The canvas is totally finished and painted on the sides, with staples in back, so can be hung as is or framed once received as well. I do also work on hardboard, which then needs to be matted and framed however, before hanging. Please make your choice from the listing options. I work in acrylic, in a traditional and representational manner, which dries quickly and is just as if not more durable and long lasting then oil.
THE PROCESS: As the buyer, you will be required to get their reference material to me within 1 week of purchasing, either by mail or electronically (I return all mailed reference images with the finished portrait). We then go over your reference and your wants for the portrait and a drawing is worked up. I submit the drawing to you before the painting is begun. I then begin the painting and I will complete it within 4 weeks of receiving the reference images. I can submit work in progress images to you the buyer if requested. Once you approve the finished portrait from an emailed jpg image, I will ship immediately. The painted portrait is drawn by hand and painted by hand, in acrylic. Below is a brief history of myself and my work.
My pet portraits are hand drawn and hand painted by me, NOT PRINTS OR PHOTOS in any way. I have 35 plus years experience as a commissioned pet and figure portrait painter.

MY ARTIST HISTORY: I am a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto. My strength is portraits of people and pets. I have been taking on portrait commissions since 1993. My own drawing and painting experience dates back to before high school. I have continually developed my skills through life drawing and personal pieces as well. My work has been accepted into many juried shows and won various awards off and on since 1997. My work is painterly yet realistic in appearance. I strive hard to always do the best job possible for my clients and nothing is sent to you until I have your emailed approval of the finished portrait. Thank you for your interest.
The portrait price and shipping costs are a combined flat price, for your convenience. Your portrait painting will be well packed and insured for safe shipping. I have been shipping artwork since 2001 successfully.
There is no returns or refunds on the shipped finished portrait as you will have the ability to approve the finished portrait before I ship. The portrait is a personal piece so is not able to be returned.
Please feel free to reach out and ask any questions before purchasing.
Photos shown in my listing include a sample of client reference and the subsequent portrait, past cat portraits and personal paintings of varying sizes all in acrylic.
