ABOUT THIS YARN:
This yarn is soft but durable. It is cushiony and bouncy- an absolute joy to work with. When dyed, colors are vibrant and rich.

WHY IS MORDANT IMPORTANT FOR NATURAL DYEING?
When naturally dyeing, fibers need to first be scoured to remove all residue, chemicals, and open up the fibers to accept mineral salts and dyes. Then, the fibers need to be treated with a mordant, which allows the dye to 'bite' on to the fiber. Without the mordant process, most natural dyes will be dull and fade quickly. With proper mordanting, dye colors reach their full potential, allowing you to create vibrant, rich, long-lasting color.

WHY PRE-SCOUR & PRE-MORDANT?
Scouring and mordanting can be a lengthy process, that involves exact measuring of chemicals with precision scales, a separate set of pots and utensils, and many extra days of work and waiting before the dyeing process can begin. This yarn has been treated so you can skip to the fun part: creating dyes you love from plants.

If you love natural dyeing from kitchen scraps and foraged plants, it can be a incredible resource to have a stash of premordanted fiber, so that you can experiment and dye on a whim with fresh plants- no need to spend the hours of time and days of waiting to scour and mordant your fibers first.
