HOW TO USE A FRENCH BUTTER CROCK
A French butter crock keeps butter fresh, soft, and spreadable without refrigeration. Follow these simple steps to use it properly:
1. PREPARE THE BUTTER
● Soften a stick of butter to room temperature.
● Pack the softened butter firmly into the lid of the crock, pressing out any air pockets.
2. ADD WATER TO THE BASE
● Fill the base of the crock with about ½ inch (1.3 cm) of cold water. This creates an airtight seal to keep the butter fresh.
ASSEMBLE THE CROCK
● Invert the butter-filled lid and place it into the base, ensuring the butter is submerged just above the water line.
STORE AT ROOM TEMPERATURE
● Keep the crock in a cool, shaded area of your kitchen.
● Change the water every 2–3 days to maintain freshness.
ENJOY SPREADABLE BUTTER
● Use butter directly from the crock as needed.
● Refill with fresh butter when empty and repeat the process.
