YOU WILL NEED:

• Crochet Hook (5 mm/US 8)
• Yarn: Medium (4) weight
• Scissors and yarn needle
• Optional: stitch marker

ABBREVIATIONS.

To make the hat the following crochet skills are required:
• chain (ch)
• slip stitch (slst)
• magic ring (mr)
• single crochet (sc)
• double crochet (dc)
• half double crochet (hdc)
• double crochet increase (dc inc)
• double crochet decrease (dc dec)

SIZE

The pattern provides calculation and description of work to fit a size medium top (it has stretch to it, though!). You can easily adjust your yarn and gauge for the desired size following the instructions of calculation in the relevant section of the pattern.

The top is made in several pieces using turning rounds. The ribs, sternum, and spine are all crochet separately. The final piece is all of the separate parts stitched together with a simple mattress stitch.
