Viking Epic Line Glass Duck Figurine #1317, Avocado Viking Duck, Viking Glass Bluenique Duck, Viking Persimmon Duck, Viking Amber Glass Duck

This listing is for one (1) midcentury Viking Art Glass duck or goose figurine or sculpture. These glass ducks were made in the USA by Viking Art Glass in the 1960's as part of the Epic Line/Series and the part number is 1317. These are the smaller 5" ducks, and they are made of blown glass that was placed in a mold form. The Viking Epic line, with its modernist shapes and bold colors, was produced from 1956 to 1975 and was one of the most popular of the Viking series and is highly collectible today. I have five of these ducks: two in the green "Avocado" color; one in the peacock blue "Bluenique" color, one in the orange "Persimmon" color; and one in the light brown "Amber" color. Each of the ducks or geese measures approximately 2-7/8 inches long and 2.5 inches wide and stand between 5 inches and 5-1/8 inches tall. Each is in very good used vintage condition consistent with its age and use with no cracks, chips, or repairs. These are highly collectible pieces of midcentury glass and will make a great addition to your MCM decor or Viking Glass collection.

The New Martinsville Glass Manufacturing Company operated between 1901 and 1940 in the city of New Martinsville, WV and was the predecessor of Viking Art Glass. The factory was renamed Viking Glass Co. to reflect the modern attitude in the early 1940’s. Viking produced modern, colorful, hand-made glass for every function and was successful for the next 40 years. The popular “Epic” line began production in the early 1960’s and featured modern shapes and designs including giant floor vases with the hand-pulled tips that are highly sought after today. In 1986, the company’s name was changed to Dalzell-Viking. Eventually, the company closed its doors sometime in the 1990’s.
