Seller's description

Hematite is a common iron oxide mineral with the chemical formula Fe₂O₃. It is one of the most important sources of iron and is widely found in sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks. Hematite has a distinctive metallic to earthy luster and typically appears in shades of black, steel-gray, or reddish-brown. Its name is derived from the Greek word "haima," meaning blood, due to the reddish color of its powdered form.

Hematite is known for its high density and hardness, making it a durable material. It has been used since ancient times as a pigment and in jewelry. Today, it is primarily mined for iron production and is also used in polishing compounds, radiation shielding, and as a gemstone. Its unique appearance and versatility make it a fascinating mineral in both scientific and cultural contexts.
