What do I need to know before I place my order?

Please check all images and the description carefully before making a purchase! Please note that the colour may look different from the actual product depending on the lighting, shading, and screen settings. Although we do our best to describe every item, in addition to the images and description, please make a purchase based on the assumption that there may be damages due to aging such as dirt or scratches. As our store policy states, we do not accept returns, cancellations, or offer refunds under any circumstances. All sales are final. Thank you for your understanding.

How do you ship orders?

We ship using EMS via Japan Post or via courier through Kuroneko Yamato depending on the country. It is best to message us and provide a phone number after placing your order in order to expedite the process of delivery and ensure the package reaches you once it leaves Japan. We do our best to use recycled materials where possible.

How can I take care of and preserve my stoneware?

The surface of pottery often has fine crackles in the glaze. Earthenware and Stoneware are semi-porous which can absorb colours and smells. To keep the original appearance for longer, there is a method of temporarily sealing these crackles called Medome 目止め in Japanese. Medome fills small holes and crackles with protein from starch. 1. Wash the pottery with lukewarm water and dry it thoroughly. 2. Submerge into a pot of room temperature water which was used to wash rice (alternatively a few spoonfuls of corn starch, rice flour or wheat flour in water) and bring to a boil. Continue for 20 minutes or more on a low heat. 3. Leave it to cool down naturally overnight and rinse with water, then let it dry.

Does my tea bowl come with a box?

Unless explicitly stated in the item's description or shown in the photos, a signed wooden box is not given. Although we source our inventory from sources including directly from individual potters, it is not always the case that a box is provided when it comes into our hands. Due to the recent increasing cost of materials, many potters often forego this step. Thus, if you have any queries please message us beforehand.
