Only one solution: the dry cleaner! Never wash your kimono, haori, juban... in a machine or even by hand: the treatment is the same for vintage or contemporary garments. Water and detergents (even soft ones) may discolor and/or deform the garment: shrinkage of the silk according to the weaving of the fabric, formation of bulges especially at the collar, which contains several layers of folded fabric, difficulty for drying (a wet kimono is very heavy) not to mention ironing! In case of stains on an old black or colored garment, absolutely avoid rubbing with a wet cloth. Polyester yukata and summer kimonos only can be washed (cold water) in the washing machine (as long as they are folded and placed in a net.

After wearing a kimono or haori all day, it is best to air it out for a few hours (not in direct sunlight because of the sometimes old dyes that might fade) and fold it carefully in a paper bag that you will store flat in a dresser drawer. Avoid leaving it hanging too long on an ordinary hanger, which could distort the collar and sleeves; opt instead for a large kimono hanger or, more simply, a bar (bamboo or ordinary smooth wood) that you can hang from the middle.

Fancy pink polyester haori and kimono, fully lined, decorated with 5 kamon and designed for formal occasions.
The shaded pink fabric has a satin finish with a small woven pattern, squared off and repeating tone on tone. This type of garment is worn mainly by young men who have just turned 20, on their coming-of-age day.
The fabric is soft and light, making it comfortable to wear. White lining. A flat braided silk drawstring is supplied with the haori (can be changed for a flat purple or darkblue silk himo).
