𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀:
At Original Cameras, we refurbish vintage cameras through a comprehensive servicing process using specialised industry-grade equipment. Each camera undergoes a thorough mechanical inspection, careful disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and precise calibration of systems using the proper tools to their original manufacturer specifications (A proper "CLA"). This labour-intensive process restores cameras to their intended working condition, ensuring reliable operation even 40 years after leaving the factory.
After stringent testing to confirm all functions are working as original, the cameras receive a detailed cosmetic buff-up followed by evaluation and grading. You can count on your purchase to both look and operate as it should for years to come.
What's involved in our professional servicing & testing:
• All cameras are checked for function before servicing.
• Cameras are stripped down to check for corrosion; any found is neutralised and repaired/replaced.
• Lens elements are separated and cleaned if obstructing fungus is present. Optical paths are fully cleaned where possible, with special attention to the viewfinders and autofocus systems.
• Gearing for autofocus lenses is removed and cleaned. Mechanical components are lubricated (if necessary) to manufacturers' specifications.
• Light seals internal and external are replaced where applicable; not all cameras have foam light seals, and many plastic-bodied cameras use overlapping seams.
• Shutter, aperture, and automatic exposure testing are performed with the industry-standard equipment Kyoritsu Arrowin EF8000 and EF-5. Adjustments are made to fall within manufacturers' specifications.
• Cameras are fully cleaned, inspected, and tested.
(Yes, all this is actually done!)
