Highlights
This hand forged blade was made from 1084 high carbon steel. I choose this type of steel because of its amazing ability to hold a sharper edge much longer than common stainless steels. While the high carbon steel takes more to care for, it creates an exceptionally high quality cutting tool.
This blade has a 8 inch blade
A 5 inch handle
This take on a Japanese style handle features an octagonal Wa shape most popular in the world of high end kitchen knives. It is made from a very beautiful piece of stabilized Indian Ebony, Stabilized highly figured Birdseye Maple, topped with a carved and polished copper bolster.
The wood in the handle has been stabilized meaning that the wood blocks (before they were carved into handles) were soaked in a resin for many days, then baked and cured. The resin dries like very hard plastic, making the wood substantially more durable and waterproof.
