Pink Spiral Kumihimo Necklace, Braided Seed Bead Necklace, Gift for Her

By braiding opaque and transparent seed beads, I created this spiral kumihimo necklace . The transparent bead has iridescent layer over a pink metallic lining. The opaque rose pink bead has a pearl finish with a shimmer. I threaded the 6/0 size(1/8") glass beads on eight pink nylon cords. Then I placed them on a round kumihimo board so that I would get the pattern I want. I braided the strands of pink beads to create the pretty spiral necklace.

This flexible necklace is 22" long with a chain extension of 1 1/2".

Kumihimo is an ancient Japanese art. Strands are braided in a circular motion for the round necklaces. The kumihimo necklaces take several hours to braid. It just depends on the beads and the length of the necklace, but I really enjoy making these truly handmade necklaces. I've been doing kumihimo for about a year. It was one of the few things I could do while recovering from shoulder surgery.
