2027 Wall Calendar: Danse Macabre 11" x 17" Dance of Death, Halloween Skeletons Gothic Art

Printed in full, vivid colour, each month of our wall calendars features a different scene of The Danse Macabre (or Dance of Death) - an allegorical work, dating from the late Middle Ages, whose simple message was this: no matter one's station in life - high or low, prince or pauper - no one escapes the inevitability of death. The earliest recorded example of the Danse dates to a now-lost mural at Holy Innocents Cemetery in Paris, from around 600 years ago (the 14th century being a time of particularly horrifying events - war, famine, plague...sound familiar?). Over the centuries, many other versions of the Danse have been created (updates included female figures - looking at you, Guy Marchant), recognizing that Death truly is the Great Equalizer.
