Why I Charge for Shipping

All orders go out USPS Ground Advantage, this is the Post Office's official tracking. All mailings get physically scanned by the mail carrier as well as the distribution centers and for the most part is highly reliable. Unlike 1st Class mail that has tracking only through the distribution centers via Pitney Bowes, the tracking is not reliable. If you would like to place an order on a small decal without USPS Ground Advantage shipping, just send me a message and I can create a custom order without the shipping cost, with the understanding that tracking is unreliable and delivery can take longer to arrive.

Vinyl Cut Line Thickness and Letter/Shape Size

When it comes to cut vinyl there are limitations. Thin line designs and/or small scaled decals may not cut or cut well. At WolfDecals we strive for at least 1/16" (.062" 1.58mm) line thickness, this is the smallest line that still has a good hold and will retain it's shape. For example a straight line will remain straight instead of being wavy when applied. Anything thinner cannot be guaranteed on it's longevity or come off the transfer tape well. Letters need to be at least 1/4" (.25" 6.3mm) in height, anything smaller does not give a good cut. Please note that vinyl cut decals is not ink on paper, but a knife cutting the vinyl. How you can achieve a design on a standard printer is far different that a blade cutting on vinyl.

Is Installing Decals Hard?

Smaller decals are much easier to install than larger decals. It's all about doing the necessary prep work, making sure the area you want to install on is thoroughly clean and most of all patience. If you have a large decal and not good with patience I would suggest to hire an experience sign installer or recruit a friend who has applied larger decals with success to help. I provided instructions for the hinged method of install, but there are other methods like the wet method which can be more forgiving for beginners. There are several YouTube videos on the hinge and wet method of installs and I suggest to watch both to decide which would be best for you. Also with larger decals, it's best to have a second person to help.

Why don't you offer removable vinyl that is safe for drywall?

Paint companies are formulating paints so messes don't stick or stain walls, which is making it much harder for removable adhesives to stick to walls. A wall painted 5 years ago that didn't have an issue with removable vinyl sticking to the wall, may not stick today with a new paint. If a 3 year old spaghetti toss with a red meat sauce isn't going to stain a wall or a runaway marker in a tots hands, how will removable adhesive hold up?

Application / Transfer Tape

There are two types of application tape (also called transfer tape), clear and the traditional beige paper application tape. I prefer to use the traditional application tape over the clear. The traditional app tape usually is much easier to remove when applying to a surface. Clear application tape, people who are not familiar with vinyl cut decals, may not realize that the clear application tape needs to be removed. Another issue with clear application tape, the adhesive hold on the vinyl can become too aggressive if not installing a decal soon after getting it. With that said, vinyl cut orders that are two or three colors do come with clear app tape, since it's much easier to line up a multiple color design.
