🎖️ CUSTOM CIVIL WAR CAVALRY BOOTS — HANDMADE 1860s LEATHER, MADE TO ORDER

These boots carry the weight of American history in every stitch.

Patterned after original 1861–1865 cavalry footwear worn by Union and Confederate mounted soldiers, officers, and commanders, these handcrafted leather cavalry boots are built for reenactors, living historians, collectors, theater productions, and anyone who demands period accuracy in their footwear — not a costume approximation.

Three authentic styles available. Made to your exact measurements. Genuine full-grain leather throughout.

───────────────────────────
🥾 THREE AUTHENTIC PERIOD STYLES
───────────────────────────

▸ STYLE 1 — DRAGOON / KNEE-FLAP CAVALRY BOOTS
The iconic officer silhouette. A tall shaft rising to or over the knee, with a characteristic front flap — functional in the field to keep trouser cuffs clear of mud, stirrups, and stable floors. This is the boot worn by mounted officers and commanders on both sides of the conflict, made famous by generals like J.E.B. Stuart and George Armstrong Custer. French toe, stacked riding heel, optional side knee tie.

▸ STYLE 2 — STOVEPIPE / TALL RIDING BOOTS
The standard-issue cavalry boot of the 1860s. Straight shaft reaching just below the knee, slightly wider at the top to allow trousers to be tucked inside. Inside pull tabs for easy entry. No front flap — cleaner, more austere. Correct for enlisted cavalry, infantry officers, and general military impressions for both Union and Confederate units. Round or French toe option, stacked heel.

▸ STYLE 3 — ARTILLERY / WELLINGTON HALF BOOTS
The M1851 Artillery Driver's Boot — also called the "short boot" or "half boot." Mid-calf height, designed for soldiers who needed to both walk long distances and ride. Preferred by line cavalry officers and mounted artillery drivers. More comfortable for extended reenactments and living history events. Round toe, leather sole, pull-on design.

───────────────────────────
🥾 A NOTE ON PERIOD ACCURACY
───────────────────────────
The Civil War cavalry boot is one of the most misrepresented footwear styles in cinema and television. Most screen portrayals show the dramatic knee-flap dragoon boot for all cavalry — but historical records, quartermaster accounts, and surviving photographs show a much wider variety in actual use.

Enlisted cavalry on both sides were often issued ankle bootees (Jefferson Bootees/Brogans) by regulation — tall cavalry boots were expensive and frequently privately purchased by officers. We build to whichever impression is correct for your unit and rank. Message us if you want guidance on which style is historically appropriate for your specific impression.

───────────────────────────
🥾 COLOUR OPTIONS
───────────────────────────
• Black (most common — Union officer and general cavalry issue)
• Dark brown (Confederate and privately purchased officer boots)
• Natural / russet (period-correct unfinished — Confederate and early war issue)
• Custom colour on request

───────────────────────────
🥾 SIZING & MEASUREMENTS
───────────────────────────
Standard sizing: US 5 – 16 / UK 4 – 15 / EU 37 – 49 (all half sizes included)

For a custom-measured fit (recommended for tall shaft styles), we need:
1. Foot length (heel to longest toe, in cm or inches)
2. Ball circumference (widest part of foot)
3. Ankle circumference
4. Calf circumference at the widest point
5. Desired shaft height (floor to top of boot)

Wide, narrow, and all non-standard fits are accommodated at no extra charge.

• For the most period-accurate finish, apply beeswax dressing over polished leather
