Crocheted Baby Pants Pattern

When my baby was an itty bitty baby, my favorite outfit for him was a pair of thick-waisted, form fitting, tight ankled pants with a soft onesie underneath. I didn't like seeing a narrow elastic waist tight around his belly or the ankles of the pants up above his knees. Eventually it occurred to me that I should make my own pair! I came up with this soft, snug, and warm pair of britches that include plenty of room for the diaper.

Pattern includes sizes 0-3 month, 3-6 month, and 9-12 months. It is written in standard US terms. It has been tested by an outside source for accuracy in the written pattern (many thanks to my pattern testers!).

Finished dimensions:
0-3 mo: 6.5 in (16.5 cm) waist x 14 in (36cm) length
3-6 mo: 7 in (18 cm) waist x 15 in (38cm) length
9-12 mo: 8 in (20 cm) waist x 16.5 in (42cm) length

Yarn Needed:
-Size 0-3 mo: Color 1- 50 g/ 200 yds fingering weight, Color 2 and 3- one 50g/104 yd skein of Sport Weight yarn for each color
-Size 3-6 mo: 3 different colored skeins of Light Worsted (yarn weight 3) yarn- 100g/ 215 yds
-Size 9-12 mo: 3 different colored skeins of Light Worsted (yarn weight 3) yarn. 100g/ 215 yds

Crochet Hooks:
-Size 0-3 mo: C (2.75mm) and E (3.5mm)
-Size 3-6 mo: E (3.5mm)
-Size 9-12 mo: E (3.5mm) and G (4.0mm)

Skill level Intermediate. Stitches used are: sl, ch, hdc, dc, fpdc, bpdc, dc2tog and optional Fsc (foundation sc). This pattern assumes you know how to change colors and includes instructions for three different colors, although some of my examples include more colors then that.
