Ladies, this is what you need to get for your man. If you want us to cook for you we need a big spoon. We wouldn't be caught dead with one of them wimpy store bought spoons. Those are for wom..........I mean wusses. We like a spoon big enough to kill a bear with should one wander into the kitchen. Don't laugh it has happened here in Colorado. This is the ideal tool to stir a big pot of Chili or homemade spaghetti sauce and when your guy's friends come over and see him cooking they won't be able to joke about the size of his utensil. Yes, this is what he needs. Get it for him today and then tell him to get his butt into the kitchen and make you a pineapple upside down cake or else.
The ones shown are examples and the one you receive will vary a little in grain and color. Finished with beeswax and mineral oil.
Years ago a Cajun man asked me if I could make him a "big, manly spoon" to stir his gumbo with. I made him one and I liked the shape so much I made a template of it as I often do of the ones I think have nice lines and proportions. So that's why I call it the big, manly spoon. This has been one of our top 5 all-time most popular designs.
This utensil is "pre-washed" so to speak. During the final sanding, the grain is raised twice with hot water and then the loose fiber ends are sanded off with a finer grit of sandpaper so that in use the spoon will not get rough. Then it is soaked in a bath of melted beeswax and mineral oil at 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
Care is easy, just wash in hot soapy water and towel dry. Apply some mineral oil or Walnut oil every couple of weeks. Better yet is a mixture of 3 parts mineral oil to one beeswax. Melt them together in a double boiler and pour into a small jar. We also sell this mixture in 1 ounce and 4 ounce sizes. A little of this goes a long way so a 4 oz. jar is practically a lifetime supply. You will get a small sample tin of our spoon oil to try along with a care and maintenance kit.
"Only problem with this spoon is that it makes me want to buy all of KitchenCarvings utensils. And I don't have room (or money) for that. But will definitely keep adding"
"Absolutely beautiful! Both of these spoons exceeded my expectations! I have a small kitchen that I am currently outfitting and I'm carefully choosing each piece that I add to my cooking kit. Eating a wonderful meal can be a sublime experience. There's no reason that preparing one can't bring the same joy. Great tools enhance the entire process. Thank you, Robert. These are works of art! I will be purchasing more."
"Beautifully crafted, satin finish with gorgeous grain. Makes me feel like a queen with a scepter :) Great communication and super shipping. Will buy again!"
