---Lift Systems for Roman Shades---
Window Treatments by Melissa Custom Roman Shades are in compliance with window covering safety regulations. We offer a variety of lift systems options:
- a Faux Roman Shade gives you the look of the roman shade, but does not raise or lower. There is no lift system.
- The Corded Lift system Uses a cord locking mechanism with the cord encased in a cord shroud that is sewn to the back of the shade which prevents it from being able to be pulled away from the shade and formed into a dangerous loop.
- Budget Cordless System uses hooks and rings. Brass rings are sewn down the back of the shade at about every ten inches. Then you are provided with a hook to insert through as many rings as you want the shade raised to to hold it in place.
- Roller Cordless option uses a roller mechanism that is spring activated. You give a loop on the back of the roman shade a tug to activate the roller mechanism and it will roll the roman shade up. This option is an upgrade and must be added to a custom order for purchase.
---Linings---
All of Window Treatments by Melissa custom roman shades, draperies and valances are lined unless otherwise specified. Lining provides a higher quality product that will protect your fabric from fading as well as protect the furnishing in your room from harmful sun rays.
I offer standard drapery lining in ivory and white and blackout lining in ivory and white. I keep those in stock and it is included in the price of your shade. I match the best color to your fabric when I have your fabric for your custom window treatment in hand.
-- -Returns and Refunds---
Please contact me immediately if there is a problem with your custom roman shade or other window treatment. We do not do returns or refunds as these items are custom made. If an error is made on our part we will correct it at no cost to you. If there has been an error on the buyers part, we will work together to get you the product you want and need.
---Measurements---
Carefully follow the instructions regarding measurement of your windows. Place your order measurements in inches. Because each item is handmade, and because of the physical qualities of some fabrics, the finished product will often not measure exactly as requested by the purchaser. Windows by Melissa guaranties that your finished product will be within 1/2 inch (for Roman shades and valences) or 1 inch (for curtains) of the requested measurements. If your product does not meet this please see the Returns and Alterations section, above.
---Fabric Choices---
Not all fabrics are appropriate for a window treatment. Only 54 inch wide home decor fabric should be used for an order unless Windows by Melissa specifically approves a different fabric. All fabric purchase recommendations (should the customer choose to purchase his or her own fabric for an order) will assume that the purchaser is using a 54 inch wide home decor fabric. If Windows by Melissa receives fabric for an order that does not meet the above guidelines, then the customer’s order might require additional fabric, different fabric, or the fabric might not hang correctly on the finished product.
If we determine that a fabric is not appropriate prior to beginning production of your order, we will attempt to contact you about the problem before we cut the fabric. However, because of the way fabric is shipped to us, it is not always possible for us to tell that the fabric is inappropriate before we cut the fabric (which renders the fabric impossible to return).
Color variations can differ from screen to in person. Swatches are always highly recommended. Please contact me to request a swatch (for a charge) if wanting to use one of fabrics/materials.
