Handmade Off-White Wheat Winter Crocheted Headband
Soft & Thick Off-white Wheat Headband, or Ear Warmer. I used a high quality super-bulky wool blend yarn that creates a very thick and warm crocheted fabric.
The color is called Wheat, an off-white with very thin black strands scattered throughout. The close-up picture shows this detail perfectly. Lion Brand describes this color as a cream, but I would consider this to be a true off-white
Over the past few years I've had so many requests for hats and ear warmers that coordinate with my scarves, that I've come up with a simple headband pattern that will look nice with the Wool-Ease and Hometown USA scarves and neck warmers in my shop.
COLOR OPTIONS: I'm able to make this headband in different colors, all from the Wool-Ease Thick N Quick line of yarn. Please look at the "Wool Blend Loop Scarves" section of my shop to view all of the color options and then choose the one you'd like from the drop-down menu when ordering this headband.

I use the manufacturer's colors from the yarn labels and these can be found in each listing in the short list of details that include Yarn Content, Yarn Brand, Yarn Label Color, etc.
Yarn Content: 80% Acrylic/20% Wool
Yarn Brand: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick N Quick
Yarn Label Color: Wheat
Approximate Length (full circumference): 20 inches/50cm
Approximate Width: 3.5 inches/8.5cm
SIZE: One size fits most (adult women). This headband in the photos will fit best on a head size of 21" to 22" (53 - 56 cm). I'll be offering more sizes: please choose whichever is closest to your own. The mannequin In the photos has a head size of 22 inches/55.8 cm.
From my own experience with winter headbands I've made for myself, I've designed this one to have a minimal amount of stretch on one edge to reduce the amount of stretching overall. This means there's actually a top and bottom to the headband, the top edge has only so much "give" so that the headband won't slip down too far. When I ship the headbands, I will add a marker of some sort (such as a ribbon) to the top edge to indicate which edge is the top. :)
This headband is crocheted "in the round" to eliminate seams, but the area where I turn to start each new row will look different than the rest of the headband. This area can be seen in the fifth photo.
PLEASE NOTE: The Wool-Ease Thick N Quick yarn contains some wool, so if you're allergic to or even sometimes irritated by wool, I wouldn't recommend purchasing this item. As far as wool/acrylic blends go, this one is great quality & very soft, but will still bother those of us who tend to get itchy when wearing wool. (: The Hometown USA yarn is 100% acrylic, very soft and smooth, so an excellent option for anyone allergic to wool
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
Can be washed in cool and dried in dryer, however I recommend either hand washing in cold water and laying flat to dry, or washing on a gentle cycle in a lingerie bag and drying only a few minutes in the dryer. The gentler washing & drying prevents the yarn from frizzing over time. Avoid washing with heavier garments that cause friction. If using washing machine, avoid washing with items that have zippers, buttons, etc that may snag the yarn loops and pull on them or make the yarn fray.
U.S. SHIPPING:
I keep shipping to a minimum and offer First Class Package as the best value for price & speed. For multiple orders, I often use Priority Mail. For Ready to Ship items, I'll ship the same or next day. For items made to order, I'll ship as soon as I have the hat finished (within the time-frame stated in the listing title). I use the PayPal/USPS integrated shipping system whenever possible, so you will be provided with a delivery confirmation number by email from PayPal or through Etsy. Most First Class packages take two to five days to be delivered.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
I always combine shipping for multiple orders. I most commonly use USPS First Class International for shipping outside of the US. First Class International may take a longer time to arrive than other services, but it's much more affordable than Priority International (which usually runs $25 or more for a few ounces). Delivery time for international packages is usually 5 to 15 business days. Customs, bad weather, or national holidays can sometimes slow down a package with the occasional shipment taking around 30 days to arrive. This only happens to about 5% of my international shipments. (:
As of January 27th, 2013, USPS has raised prices for First Class International, in some cases almost doubling the amount they used to charge. On a positive note, they are starting to include tracking and delivery confirmation as part of the First Class service. They are beginning with Canada and will be adding other countries in the future.
The amount I charge for First Class International shipping includes the weight of a cardboard box. If you’d like me to ship your item in a polymer shipping envelope, I do have those available. Using shipping envelopes can sometimes reduce the total package weight and lessen the cost of shipping. Please let me know if you’d like me to ship using this type of packaging and I’ll see if there’s a price difference. If you’ve already paid for the scarf and shipping, I can always issue a refund through PayPal for the difference.
International Buyers Please Note: Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.
PAYMENTS:
I accept credit cards, debit cards, and Etsy gift cards through Etsy's Direct Checkout system.
I also accept PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account, you will still be able to pay with a credit or debit card through PayPal. You can also pay from your bank account using an E-check (also through the PayPal system), but I won't be able to ship until the check has cleared, PayPal says it's okay to ship and allows me to print out a label.
During checkout, you will be able to choose from all of these options.
RETURNS: For now, I am not accepting returns, but am completely open to resolving any problems that may occur. I feel the best strategy is to head off any problems before they even happen. If you have any questions whatsoever about any items I am selling, please ask.
Thanks for looking! (:
