When buying vintage clothing the size tag means nothing. Clothing sizes undergo changes in measurement at least once a decade. The best way to get a well fitting garment is to purchase a tape measure. Next find a dress or jacket that fits you well. Key measurements are the bust measurement underarm to underarm across the bust and doubled . This is your bust measurement. When we measure clothing we measure armpit to armpit and double it for our bust measurement. When the bust fits, the garment usually is well fitting. Another key measurement is shoulder seam to shoulder seam across the back. Waist and hip measurements are taken side seam to side seam and doubled for the measurement. Compare it to our garment measurements
