Authentic Vintage Tribal Hand Carved Wooden Shutter Ghana Africa
This authentic vintage tribal hand carved wooden shutter was purchased recently in Ghana Africa from one of the local vendors. He referred to it as a door, though to me it appears more like a shutter, but that is just my observation. I do not know what the significance or meaning of the different carved symbols or it's history. The man said it came from a small village in the north. He would not elaborate any more than that. I believe it may be from the Ashanti tribe, but I am only speculating at that.
I am not exactly sure of the wood species, it's native to Africa and it is actually two pieces joined by a primitive wired joint. It is 21" long x about 11" wide and is about a half an inch thick. It's hard to describe all of the carvings so definitely check out all the pictures.
