These booklets are folded and stapled, black and white xerox on paper, with paper covers. Some booklets have cardstock covers with colored paper pages. Where indicated, covers, and covers only, are in full color. I am selling a process, not a product. The booklets are not the "thing", but rather house a virtual workshop using my process. The real "thing" is your own expression, guided by my assignments. The following is a description of the original live workshop to give you an idea of what's in store in these workbooks to jumpstart your creativity! Fellow Pirate‘s and renegades, thar be treasure in these here uncharted waters. So if ye are ready to experience a meaningful encounter with the self, then come with me, ye know who ye are. Hoist the Pirate colours, and batten down the hatches mates, ‘cause we’re going out to sea...deep into the center of our being for treasure beyond our imagination: that’s right -gold, jewels, and the occasional artifact of our existence. I’ll watch out for you as we travel through various journal writing assignments combined with art making exercises to dig deep to find ourselves and tell our unique story in the container of a mixed media book of self exploration. In this creative and expressive excavation, we’ll journey to our rich interior and return to tell the tales of Ahoy! We’ve Found her in all this mess, this churning sea of life, this buried soul in the Bermuda triangle, this unentered darkness of scattered bones and blood: this is where our real life wants to be resurrected and dug up. Not perfected, controlled, or prettified for some imagined audience that ain’t us or who we want to be, but raw, honest, gut-wrenching , pure and powerful- as is- without the need for embellishment or damn critic. Welcome, treasure seekers, this mysterious cavernous underworld is my terrain: I work and create in these dark waters and treacherous reefs so frightening and yet so hauntingly beautiful. And as the Captain, I know where the hidden map is where X marks the spot. Deep within. Isn’t time to uncover your true being?

You will need: Your Pirate’s Code Visual Journal (or two or three!) and your favorite mixed media supplies. (suggestions following.) Bring your favorite glue, scissors, some brushes for your paints, a rag or two, and a jar for water.

Suggested supply list: Please bring your favorite supplies as well as favorite collage items (use copies of things that are precious to you) and one or two magazines. Bring different kinds of things in your favorite colors. I like, Black and White acrylic, (its always good to have at least one light color and at least one dark color) cheapy craft paints in light blue and butter cream, brush markers in orange and hot pink, yellow black and red permanent markers, some colored pencils, a regular pencil, a sharpener, all kinds of tape, even a little stapler, India ink and walnut ink, red watercolor, a few water color crayons, my rubber stamp letters, poetry books to cut up, Staz-on stamp pads, .... just make sure you have a few wet items, and some dry items.

IMPORTANT NOTE ********These booklets were designed as companions to my workshops, and were never meant to stand alone. This booklet is pretty easy, I think, to follow along, but if you should have any questions or assignments are unclear, well, one, you're a pirate, just go for it and act like you know what you are dong, but two, you can always email me, the captain, for clarification. But try sailing your own ship first and see what happens before I throw you a life preserver!*********
