This small quilt measures 18 x 18 inches square. I used the 'English Paper Piecing' method to complete the apple core top. I hand quilted it using 100% cotton batting and used a soft green fabric to bind it, hand stitching the binding in place on the back. I added a sash to hang if desired. It may be machine washed and dried. This piece is an excellent example of an english paper pieced quilt. This method involves basting a piece of fabric on a precut template, basting the fabric to the template, nipping and tucking the tiny piece of fabric to fit the template, then hand sewing the piece to another. Then, the paper must be removed. It is intensive and tedious but I enjoyed carrying it around from place to place as I worked on it. There are 121 apple cores in the quilt, with very few repeats of prints.
