The original Shoulder Shirt™ in a FLANNEL gown.

We have been making shirts since 2008. Shoulder Shirts™ were developed for my mother for her to have an easy way to dress independently after her shoulder surgery and she wanted something more fashionable than altered t-shirts that didn’t her fit well. My mother found our hook and loop closures (velcro like) are the easiest way to be able to fasten your shirt with one hand. (Our custom made Shoulder Shirts™ are specifically designed so the hook and loop closures do not touch your skin and are not scratchy.) She found snaps worked great in our designs where gravity held them in place on the sides of the shirts, but when on the shoulders, snaps were difficult to fasten with one hand.

This style of nightgown opens at both shoulders with hook and loop fastener (velcro like) for ease in dressing (or nursing) and has drop sleeves that do not require fastening. Each Shoulder Shirt™ comes with a ribbon designed to pull up the back shoulder into position for fastening the shirt/gown. (See pictures for examples of how the shirts work. Please note that the pictures are a smaller size, but the same fabric.)

These gowns tend to run big to accommodate braces and casts so I have included the approximate measurements. (I do not recommend ordering the next size larger than you usually wear without first checking these measurements.)

Fabric: Cotton flannel. This soft fabric is a 100% cotton flannel. This print features an adorable owl with stars and moons on a light aqua blue background. Our little guy is sure to snuggle up with you during your recovery. This gown is loose and comfy is wonderful for someone after surgery when you can't wear a bra and is very warm and toasty for the winter time or cooler climates. It is great for recuperating at home and would be wonderful to use in place of that drafty hospital gown. You'll feel like you are getting a warm hug after surgery in our flannel gowns!!

Shoulder Shirts™ tend to run a bit large to accommodate braces and casts. The last picture in each listing is a size/measurement chart for that style of shirt. The last couple of measurements are the approximate actual circumferences and length of the shirts. The chest circumference should be 5-10" larger than your actual chest circumference. You need to be able to easily pull your shirt up over your hips.

(I do not recommend ordering the next size larger than you normally wear without first checking these measurements.)

You should also note that the knit fabrics do give and are going to fit looser than the woven fabrics which don't have as much give to them.

Shoulder Shirts™ are made primarily from polyester and/or cotton blends and knits; this allows for comfort and easy care while you are recuperating. However, for those who have asked for the more natural fabrics, we do have a few of cotton, rayon and other natural blends. Be sure to look for them. The shirts are machine washable; I recommend cold water wash and hanging or lying flat to dry. (Please note that the cotton fabrics may shrink a bit with the first washing; we have compensated for this with extra length on the shirts.)

I received my shoulder shirt and I am very happy with it. It is very soft and comfortable. The fabric is breathable and the styling is pretty. The customer service is top notch.
