My daughter was born with severe Bi-lateral Hip Displaysia. She underwent surgery when she was 10wks old and spent 12 weeks in a full body (SPICA) cast.

The nurses weren't familiar with the cast & therefore were no help in learning how to diaper her. She was sent home from the hospital with a newborn diaper shoved in the cast opening. I knew we had to find a better way. So I came up with hip stix, a way that any caregiver could put an adequately sized diaper on their Hip Baby while they're in a SPICA without spending half the day trying to shove it in the tiny hole Dr's leave you. I went through several prototypes and then success!! We were no longer overwhelmed changing her nappy's, in fact my husband and I both agreed that we could change her diaper in the SPICA twice as fast as we could normally. Not only that, but her skin was kept dry and no more leaks in the cast!!! She was in the same cast the FULL 12wks and the Doctors said it was the cleanest cast they'd ever seen!

I'm offering my invention to other "hip"/SPICA parents to help simplify your lives while caring for your baby.

***IMPORTANT NOTE ****The best diapers to use are pampers swaddlers as they are very thin and super absorbant, easy to slip inside the cast. Use 1 size larger than what your baby wore before being casted. At night we put a poise pad or newborn size diaper, inside the main diaper and my baby girl kept dry till morning...if you have ANY questions about anything please contact me.
