What is digital paper?

Digital paper is a printable design, or set of designs, that you receive as digital files that have not yet been printed. Digital "printable" paper typically comes as a set of .JPG files that can easily be printed on any operating system using pretty much any image preview or image editing software—the same things you would use to print anything else. You can either print them yourself on a household printer or have them printed professionally by a third party.

What size is your digital paper?

The most common size offered on Etsy, and the size we typically offer, is 3600 x 3600 pixels, which is 12 x 12 inches (305mm x 305mm) when printed at 300 DPI—the standard size of scrapbook pages you find at craft stores.

What is VAT? Why is my purchase total higher than expected? Why am I charged tax?

VAT is value-added tax, and is charged to you by certain countries (namely, those in the EU) on your digital purchases. To ensure that you follow the laws of the country you reside in and pay this tax, Etsy has chosen to collect and remit it on behalf of sellers on Etsy, such as us, who sell to you. This is beyond our control and based on the laws where you live. Etsy also collects and remits state tax for those residing in the USA, according to the laws of your state. This is also beyond our control.

Is this physical paper? Will I receive something in the mail?

No! We sell only digital designs that you must print yourself or have printed by a third party. Nothing physical is sold or shipped by us and you will not receive anything in the mail.

Why does the color look different once printed? How do I ensure the most accurate color?

Colors may vary between monitors and printers and whether you are printing with a home inkjet printer or professional CMYK print methods. Depending on your own personal monitor’s calibration and printer's technology and inks, the colors you see on your screen may not necessarily be the colors that result when an image is printed. Colors will ALWAYS appear more bright and vivid on your screen than they will when you print them on actual paper. This is because your screen is using light to produce the colors, and paper cannot produce light. We recommend printing on bright white cardstock if you are concerned with getting the most accurate color. Paper color, weight and texture will also affect print color.

By purchasing a product from our shop you will receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it commercially in digital and physical merchandise for sale under certain conditions. If you sell (or plan to) more than 300 sales of any product(s) total using one of our designs, you will need to purchase an extended license in our shop for $20, which lifts this limit. Please see our Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy in the FAQ for further details, and our Responsible Use Agreement. Breaching our policies will end your license and legal right to use our designs commercially.

Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy

All copyright to our designs remains with Paper Element. No such rights are transferred to you other than the limited commercial license described in this FAQ You may not use any of our products commercially as part of any digital: paper, clipart, brush, texture, scrapbooking resource, whether single or part of a pack, or any similar competing assets. You may not redistribute our files or designs to others as-is or separately, only as part of more complex merchandise you’re delivering. Your creations can incorporate our designs as an element, but they cannot be the whole. You may only use them as a supporting part of a new creation. You cannot use our designs with copyrighted imagery you don’t have license to use e.g. cartoon characters

Responsible Use Agreement

You may not use our designs as part or whole of anything political, sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, anti-national, anti-cultural, anti-ethnic, or otherwise hateful, harmful, bullying or abusive in nature. By purchasing a product from us, you agree that doing any of the above will immediately end your legal right to use our products.
