Floating in the sea, relaxed and at ease, the Mermaid Tranquil is displayed hanging from her tail in this magical fantasy pendant. Scrollwork is featured on both tube bail of this fantasy pendant as well as the shape of the fins and tail, which tie the two together to make a truly magical piece of mermaid jewelry. While the Tranquil Mermaid was designed to hang from her tail, she looks just a good when suspended from her hair, please choose your preference. The overall length of this artisans pendant is 2 1/2 inches, with the Tranquil Mermaid being just over 2 inches and the bail is 3/4 of an inch wide. The bail will accept a thick 4mm cord or chain and is Pandora friendly. A woven black leather cord is included with the handmade fantasy pendant.

As with all of my work this piece of fantasy jewelry is my original design was created using the lost wax method. I first start by doing a detailed drawing of my intended subject. Then I sculpt my design in wax. I start with overall shape and form, then adding detail such as facial features, fingers, hair, scrollwork and scales that are applied one at a time. After the wax sculpture is complete it is cast in sterling silver, excess metal is removed, rough polished, linked together, soldered, patina applied, then completed by a final polish. It is a time consuming process, but one that I thoroughly enjoy. The only purchased parts of this handmade mermaid necklace is the jump ring and leather cord.
